baseball "Rubbing Mud"

Recommended Posts

Watching the History Channel right now. I am not a big baseball fan but I did not know that all baseballs are rubbed with "Rubbing Mud" prior to using them in a Pro game to take the shine off.

The mud comes from a special secret place in N.J.

I strange worthless fact I thought I would pass along.

Well Jeff, the art of rubbing balls goes back thousands of years , most would have their balls rubbed anywhere and anytime . The art of ball rubbing really came into style in the 16th century where it was often done in public while others watched and cheered the "rubber" on to help satisfy the "rubbee" . Then some where in the 19th century the art of ball rubbing was almost lost due to the womens movement.

But as we can now see, the art of ball rubbing is on the return and I would personally like to thank all of the practicing BALL RUBBERS out there, my jock is off to you.

PLAY BALL...
