5 Engine boat loses an engine. The Complete Photos

"OH, MIDNIGHT!" Express boat has a bad day

PHOTOS BEGIN IN NEXT POST

ReelBoating: Nov 17 2009 - A rare 5 engine offshore boat returns to Port Everglades with one of its starboard engines dangling from the transom. The cause of the unfortunate incident is still unknown.

It doesn't appear anyone was injured during the incident. A police boat escorted the boat back to the docks.

Apparently the boat was being used for some type of promotional event that afternoon and appeared to be in full operating condition as it left the channel.

Many members asked for more pictures so I am offering them. Afterwards I will move on to other news stories and events regarding the boating industry as this story has already been told. Hopefully the boat owners are safe and will work out the problems. I feel it is best to post these types of photos not only for their newsworthiness but in an attempt we can all learn some lessons from them.

For those who are new to ReelBoating.com and may not know its history my name is Wiley and I founded The Hull Truth Boating Forum back in 2001. Since 2007 I have not been involved with THT. I opened ReelBoating.com March 16th, 2009

In Ludicrous' pics, I think I know who made the bracket the Vrods were bolted through to the transom...I would assume. My guess is that one might find the far starboard corner of the transom, as well as the corresponding section of the bracket still bolted to the motor...

Says a lot about the strength of the rigging tube!! :1992_beer_cheer:

Catastrophic failures do happen. Sort of sucks when they happen in the limelight... :753_hammer_hitting_head: :753_hammer_hitting_head:
