Chapter 2 - - - Making Offers on a Boat

Recommended Posts

Well after all of the events descibed in Chapter 1 :( I regrouped and started again

Decision #1: I will be getting an express and not a convertible and it will not be longer than 40 ft

Decision #2: I will have fellow ReelBoating Members look at a boat before I travel to go see it . . . many of the the dealers and owners are not forthcoming with the true condition of the boats . . . this has already saved me two trips . . . thanks for the help so far

Decision #3 : I contacted a broker who I have confidence in (name will appear in an upcoming post) and asked him to help me find a boat . . . he will hold my deposits and he will help in the negotiations

The first boat I found that seemed to work was a 40 ft Riveria express

When we contacted one of the brokerage's agent I did not like his overall tone nor did I like being lectured by him . . . that broker lost a potential sale by acting the way he did . . . too bad but that's life . . . the hunt continues

Fubar512 aka Ed found a great 37ish express near where he lives

Ed contacted me today . . . he climbed all over the boat for a good part of the morning today . . . Ed said that the boat is 10 years old but the condition is like a very well kept 2 year old boat and the engines have about 40 hours since major overhaul

I am not going to state which boat it is until I have an accepted offer because I had a member of a boating forum do an end run and buy the boat I had found . . . the jerk even sent me an e-mail saying "thanks for finding my boat sucker" :(

I have contacted my broker and he will be putting in an offer on the boat on my behalf

I will post whe I have more news :)

Hi Guys

I just got back from a short business trip

The offer to purchase the express is being finalized as I prepare this post and should be in the selling broker's hands this evening . . . unless I forgot something

Weakfish . . . will let you know when, if the offer is accepted, that the sea trial will be help . . . it is not too far from you :)
