Leveraging a man's illness to gain membership!

As some of you will have seen from the thread over on the Sportfishing Forum Capt Tred Barta had a serious medical episode yesterday.

Today when I signed on to my mail I had two spam emails from Sportsfishermen.com with a link to their thread talking about it.

The emails were from invite@sportsfishermen.com.

I resent getting spam normally, but for someone to use this illness to grow membership is sick.

I have never been over there or came close to registering, so they are harvesting emails from somewhere.

I would say if anyone on here has used Reel Boating, THT, or any other site that I am on to harvest my email address, using this man's illness as the excuse, I think you are a sick person.

If it happens again I WILL register and be a right pain in the ass until you ban me. And I CAN be a real pain in the ass when I put my mind to it.

I copied the email address it was sent to then went to the sf forum to retrieve my password to check if I ever registered using that email. When submitting the email address I received an error the address was not found in their system, so the email was mined from somewhere else.

I got the same e-mail. Disturbing if someone is using this to cash in on Tred Barta's illness.

That's exactly what I did just to make sure I was having a brain-fart! I have never been near that site.
