  1. She's a lot prettier in the after pictures. Hope you get many more years out of her.
  2. You go bare foot if you like but I want some sandles or something on my feet when I go near a urinal.
  3. A lot of the Evinrudes used the same powerhead for years so that wouldn't be surprising. 140psi is about what you would expect. What you don't want is a cylinder with more than 10-15% deviation, ie five cylinders read 140 and one reads 110.
  4. No music on my boat. I'm OK with music on the beach of almost any type except rap as long as its at a reasonable volume.
  5. When I was a kid we lived about 1300 miles from where my granddad lived and every summer we would load up the station wagon and head home for a couple of weeks around the forth. My granddad had a cabin on a lake about 10 miles out of town and had and old wooden boat that he'd let us paddle around the lake. Fond memories, but what got me started with boating was the fact that the fish and the beach were over there and I was over here. A boat could get me from over here to over there.
  6. I've bought several things from boatfix.com. Usually the lowest online price and never had any hassles.
  7. Pretty cool video. The first thing I noticed on the bow-less ride beside the fact that there didn't seem to be a need to trim the motors was these guys didn't even put any life vest on!
  8. I get no respect, I started tellin my kids about the birds and the bees. They started tellin me about my wife and the postman..... Kids, no respect. I told them one day you'll have kids of your own. They said, ya one day you will too....
  9. You can usually drill around the wedge then punch it clean from the top.
  10. You can make a pretty effective battery powered alarm system by just using a plunger switch in series with a siren wired to your battery. You might get more false positives from birds and other critters that could climb in but a motion sensor kicking on flood lights and a siren would probably be more effective.
  11. It makes you wonder what their motives are. No controversy = no public meeting = no money.
  12. Nice video. Looks like you put em' on the big boys. I bet they had a blast.
  13. A lot of dated material but still some good reading. http://www.yachtsurvey.com/
  14. You won't be able to sell the boat for what you'll put in the motor if you repower so if you change your mind in a year or two you'll take a big hit in your investment. If you really like the boat and you know you're going to stick with it then maybe but there are a lot of dealers out there willing to make you a deal.
  15. There are a lot of reason for replacing a motor. Just a few I can think of: Change of sponsor Missed a weigh in by 5 minutes with the winning fish and there's a larger motor available Everybody's got 300s and I've only got 250s
  16. Probably have at least a dozen in different sizes not counting the 6 pack and 12 pack coolers.
  17. I don't remove the plug. I rigged up a standard cup muffs on a 10' piece of schedule 40 1" PCV with an aluminum ground rod for a little backbone. I taped the PVC to the rod. I put one of those quick disconnect couplings on the other end. I lift the boat just high enough to get the prop out of the water, get the water flowing then climb in and crank it up. Don't know about the switch.
  18. I think the rise of Facebook as a marketing tool comes from folks who follow hype more than they follow logic. Should your company have a Facebook page? Sure if you're willing to spend the time or pay someone to spend the time tending to it. The best marketing is multiple faceted and well targeted. It doesn't have to be outrageously expensive but it ain't free. As far as boat manufacturers, I think most of the ones listed represent a good value for the average boat buyer. That's were my focus would be, reducing cost and improving product to make my product fit in the best value for the money slot of the price range I played in.
  19. Pump the primer bulb until hard. Turn key on while holding in for two-three seconds before turning far enough to crank. If it is still hard to crank, take of hood and turn little red knob counter clockwise until it points straight up. Try to crank then turn it back fully clockwise.
  20. The only thing negative that I've heard on them is you need 3'. Everything else was good.
  21. DLV isn't flat bottom. It's got the rounded front like to old Whalers had and a shallow V with a single pronounced chine if I remember correctly. Builder, There are many factors that can cause spray including if you're heading into or against the waves and how much wind is blowing especially a cross wind. Most of that you can't control depending on the heading you are on. What you can try in different conditions is varying your speed up or down incrementally and trimming up or down just a bit to see how if affects your ride. Trim tabs help a lot of boats "fine tune" the ride especially if you've got uneven side to side weight distribution. I run a boat with a flared bow and a much deeper V than your DLV. The faster I run in 1'-2' chop the better and typically I'll have to trim my bow down a little depending on the distance between the chop. At least in my boat the worst thing I can do is come off plane and try to ease through chop.
