  1. I checked the prop and the only thing on it is "17-K"
  2. Thanks for the replies. I will have to look at the prop for the numbers. It is a 19 foot that I believe weighs 1900 lbs. I hold 75 gallons of fuel so that is another 600 lbs. I guess a couple of hundred more with gear etc. It is rated for a 150 hp max.
  3. I have a 1999 Angler single engine catamaran with a Yamaha 115 two stroke. I cruise at 20mph at 4500-4700 rpm. WOT is 5400-5500 rpm but I only increase to 23-24 mph. Shouldn't I get more of a bump in speed. The prop came with the boat and is a 3 blade stainless. How do I find out if I am under propped short of buying and trying several different ones?
  4. Anyone familiar with this area? Going for a week at the first of July to Annapolis, St Michaels and Ocean City and wondering what things are available. Sure would like some input, thoughts, ideas, etc.
  5. Alright, it's not what you're thinking........... How do you determine which shaft length is correct for your boat? I've got a 1999 Angler single engine cat that I'm thinking of repowering. I brought it to a local dealer who said the 99 Yammie 115 I have on it now is a 25" shaft and he thinks it should be a 20". Since I don't have the original manual on this boat and Angler is ABSOLUTELY NO HELP AND NEVER RESPONDS TO ANY PHONE CALLS OR EMAILS I don't know where to find the answer. Do cats need the longer shaft outboard?
  6. Has anyone replaced a windshield lately? I'm looking to replace mine but can't seem to find a source for just the plexiglass windshield. Any ideas?
  7. ....for a Garmin GPS 125 Sounder.....anyone know an online site where I can find one. It's a 1999 model and the manual is missing. Anyone got any clues?
  8. What kind of draft does the boat have? Cruise and top speed? I'm really looking for a bay boat that is offshore capable but this beauty looks like it might work. Are you in the New Orleans area?
  9. Thanks. You're the second person who has told me to wait until I get there to find a charter. Since I want to go on my third day there it may be the way to go.
  10. Going to the Keys in mid October and looking for a good fishing guide who can accommodate two couples. Any suggestions?
  11. A lot of great options. I'd love an Everglades, but unfortunately it's not in my price range. Half the fun is shopping to find the right boat.
  12. I have a 1999 Angler Cat, single Yammy 115. The plate says the max hp is 150. Right now I cruise at 25-26 mph at 5000 rpm. I'm thinking of repowering but don't know whether to go with the max or something in the 130 hp to 140 hp range in a 4 stroke. Of course price is going to play a part and I really need to decide about how long I plan to keep the boat. There is very little info on this boat since apparently Angler only made it one year and they are not helpful at all. Don't even reply to emails or phone calls. I'm looking for a little more speed and a lot quieter. Hole shot doesn't really matter. How about some comments?
  13. That could be...I'll have to check it out. The problem I'm having is that when the boat is sitting on the trailer one fish box will hold water after a rain and the other doesn't. I'd like to find a way to make them watertight in the sense that rainwater will not accumulate.
  14. Yeah, I may need to see if the pump is clogged. But, when I turn the pump on it drains fine. Oh well, working on the boat is better than in the yard! Just got back from a cruise around Deer Island and a stop at a poolside bar at one of the local casinos. Life is good!
  15. I've got two indeck fish boxes. One holds water and doesn't drain until I turn on the macerator pump but the other one doesn't hold water and drains out the macerator drain. Any ideas on how to stop the box from filling up with water?
  16. First boat I remember - my dad's 14 foot fiberglass skiff with a Johnson 9.9 - ran like crazy. I took that boat all over Back Bay and Deer Island in Biloxi after school and in summers catching specs on dead shrimp. Also learned how to check to make sure the plug is in before you back it in the hardway! First boat of my own - a 1999 SeaRay 15 foot jet boat with a 90 hp Force engine. Piece of crap - broke down all the time. Finally sold it Next partnered with my father-in-law on a 1969 30 foot Chris-Craft Commander with twin 450 Chevys - what a beast. Learned how to get a tranny out - how to change a manifold how not to back in the slip with a crowd onboard the first time - how to apply bottom paint and pay for fiberglass repairs and the sheer pleasure of selling it At least I had a partner who paid his share and directed me....Imean helped mne with the work. (You know it takes at least 2 6 packs to put on two bottom coats??) Next up a 1979 Montauk with a 1979 Evinrude - sold the motor for $500.00 and put on an Evinrude 88 special. Then bought a 1989 Montauk with an 89 Yammy - swapped the engines and sold the 79. 2000 SeaDoo Islandia deckboat with a 350 Merc inboard. Still have that beast for river and bay cruising 1979 Boston Whaler Harpoon 17 foot sailboat for my son - still have that one too. 1999 Angler catamaran with 99 Yammy - current boat....but probably not the last. Oh yeah...two 14 foot aluminum skiffs and a Hobie two person kayak. Ain't life grand
  17. It's not that I don't like them...I just can't find one with the glass globe around the mantles like they used to make. That really protected the mantles from accidentally getting knocked off or busted and from the wind. Sounds like they are still the best method. Guess I'll stick with that.
  18. I'm thinking of replacing my floundering lantern with an underwater light...you know the kind with the sealed light on the end of a pole that you walk with..but do not know anyone who has used this kind. I'm concerned the underwater light won't give as much coverage as the lantern but I cannot find a lantern like I used as a kid, with a glass globe around the mantles. The only kind they sell now are the ones with the mantles exposed. Anyone have any experience with the submersible ones, let me know what you think.
  19. I know "best" is a nebulous concept, depending on who is reading the question. I had previously stated a price range of 15k - 20k and use would be in the MS/LA Gulf of Mexico and marsh. The Gulf can be slick calm then a T-storm comes up and you're in 3-5's. I guess what I really mean is a boat that works well in shallow (2'-4') but can handle the run out to the islands located 10-12 miles offshore. From those islands is Chandelieur, another 10 miles or so. All kinds of oil and gas rigs located 10 mi or so south of these islands.
  20. Mississippi Gulf Coast. Ship/Cat and Horn Islands are all about 10 miles offshore. Chandelieur Island is another 10-12 miles south. I'm looking in the 15K to 20K price range.
  21. Try 409 spray. It works if you let it sit a minute and scrub it off.
  22. I know, there's no such thing as a perfect boat, but how about one that combines a bay boat's skinny water ability with one that handles a 2 to 3 foot chop to get to the islands 10 to 20 miles offshore. Of yeah, in the 19 to 24 foot range. How about it--- ideas??
