  8. Well that is an awsome fish & she should be proud forever. I read the article & had the same thought how is she intering it in a derby tournament or any other sanctioned sportsman event. I dont belive there is a debate here she did not catch the fish on her own it may or may not fit into the rules of the derby. Thats for the officals to determine & the parents should have read the rules & made there own determination that the fish was legal to enter. If they made the wrong choice then the officials have a responisibility to enforce the rules. We all know snagging fish is wrong as is poching but people do it I chose not to as I am a sportsman. I thank the lord everyday I dont have to enforce the rules. I just make sure I can sleep at night so I follow the rules & teach my children to folow the rules since right & wrong starts at home.
  9. [A name=Kingair' date='Nov 19 2009, 11:56 PM' post='25293] Found this on other site "The clamp bracket did not break......... and it happened at 40 MPH in calm waters..... we hauled it out and supported the A until the guys from Midnight came to take it away...... The motor was ok,,,,, no water ingestion, infact there was no visible damage. It did damage the motor next to it with it's prop... took a chunck out of the cav plate. The motor was through bolted to a plate to get it higher and the plate had studs welded to it to attach it to the transom. there were no through bolts directly holding the motor onto the transom. The studs sheared right at the plate and the motor was left dangling off one remaining stud and the tie-bar. "

  14. It's covered under the new health plan but you are on a six month weighting list for something that needs to be done now.
  15. well 15 years ago I was fishing in st petersburg fl at the docks & hooked the top of a pylon. when I pulled to break the line the 11/2 oz egg sinker rocketed back & nailed my thumb then dropped in the water. I had a nice scratch. The next day I noticed a lump that I could move around & thought the sinker had chipped the upper knuckle when it hit. well 15 years later I was clearing our fence line with a bush axe & the garring gared the chip lose it worked down my thum to the lower joint. it was now bothering me I was thinking about getting it removed but had taped my thumb below the chip in hopes it would work back up my finger. While I was installing my lenco troll n tabs (there awsome) i notice I had a big spot of ****. I grabbed an exacto knife & sterilized the blade & my thumb. I then cut open the pocket & relized I could possibly squeeze out the chip. so I squeezed & out popped a black curly q. looked like a peice of shell well I thought maybe I had gotten some shell on the weight & started squeezing& shifting the lose piece in my thumb after some real squeezing out it popped. A little black berrel ( I couldnt belive it a swivel) the first curly q was part of the ring. after some more squeezing I was able to get out several more pieces of the ring. I went to the doctor for an x-ray just a tiny little pice of the ring remains. heres some pics.
  16. this is the delema I have twin engines & have been running 2 group 31 batteries. 1 for each motor & 1 gps fishifinder combo on each lights & pumps off 1 downriggers off the other. after some reading that is not the correct way. If I understand correctly I should have electronics on there own battery? I have several options since the power will be changing. I will be running the odyssey extreme racing 40 batteries. I could run 1 for the pair of 70 evinrudes 1 for the electronics 2 fishfinder gps units (can be run on 24 volt), led lights, nav lights, vhf, downrigger occasionally, livewell pump, bilge pumps. 2 for the 24 volt troll n tabs or 1 for 70 hp 1 for 70 hp 1 for electronics 2 for 24 volt troll n tabs any ideas?
  17. The Trojan had been sunk, & Needed everything so I would figure on mechanical & electric full replacement anything hydraulic should be fine steering trimtabs should be fine.cost is totaly dependent on your choices for the build but twins if go used around 5000.00 for a set of motors if you shop around another 5000.00 for the rest of the rigging on a boat that size. Include used electronics in the 5000.000 so 10000.00 or less plus the cost of the hull
  18. If you ever want to do it now would be the time if you have cash in hand. Im finishing up my second build. 1st one was a 1970 trojan marlin center console lost my ass ended up parting as much of it out as I could. definatly over spent & over built. Im just finishing a 2001 18' custom cat Ill end up being under 5000.00 completed & it's fully loaded. After I sell my extra parts & parts from design changes ill end up closer to 3000.00. Most of the parts came off craigs list or the forum boards new or were reused from the trojan. when I picked it up almost finished
  19. three bank charger 1 set of batteries 24 volt requires 2 of the leads. leaves 1 lead for 2 12 volt batteries I have been running independently for twin engines. Can i use a parallel switch to run the batteries together for charging & separate for running the boat? seems to make sense but the manufacture instructions don't show that option.
  20. fished saturday morning definatly needed more clothing left the dock at 6:00. trolled the inlet big zero fished the bridge after moving a couple times we found a school of black drum. 3 keepers out of 7 or 8 fish. undersized black sea bass & mangrove snapper. 1 keeper bull shark then time to head back to the dock. time to add a wash down hose.
  21. Well I traded a minn kota powerdrive with copilot for a set of lenco tolling tabs everything included but the tab control. I ordered the tab control off ebay & relised it was just the switch. called lenco to see what part I need to order & they had one & took care of me great customer service. I should have them installed by next weekend ready to fish.
