  1. Well, I will answer my own question. The carb was gummed up. In particular the needle valve was gummed close so no fuel was getting into the fuel bowl hence no fuel to the motor hence motor-no-workee. She would start and run for a second or two but that was due to me spraying starter fluid. I took the carb apart, cleaned everything and she now runs like a top.
  2. I have a 2007 6hp Suzuki 4 stroke kicker. Last year I ran fuel stabilizer through it, let it run until it ran out of fuel and then let it sit in my garage for a year. She has no hours on her other than break in. I put fresh fuel in the onboard tank, choked her and pulled. She started up runs for 3 seconds and then dies. I repeated this procedure about 40 times: choke, pull, run for 3 secs and then die. I unhooked the fuel pump and she is spurting fuel on the out bound port. I took the tank out to make sure there are no clogs. I even ran seafoam through it. At first I could smell some varnished gas smell from the carb area but that has gone away. What would cause it to run for a few seconds choked and then die? She will not run if I don't choke her. It sure does seem like she is not getting fuel but what is bizarre to me is why will she fire up at first? She gets fuel somewhere and as soon as she starts up it's like she is then out of fuel again. Any ideas? Here are pics: http://picasaweb.google.com/DaveBWilliams/NewSuzukiKicker#
  3. I have a 198DLX with a 90HP Yam. With me and another dude in it, WOT (with bottom paint) it will run about 34MPH and turn 5300 RPM. We routinely pull an adult on the tube with 3 other folks in the boat. She planes decently quick and stays up even in turns. I don't know the difference in performance between the DLV/DLX and Honda/Yam but other than coming off plane, your description does not sound too far off. It may be a propping or engine height issue...
  4. Can someone recommend a location to purchase a zinc set for a 2005 F90TLRD? I cannot find the sets on boats.net.
  5. I am gearing up to swap the impeller in my Yammy 90hp 4 stroke. My question is - do I just replace the impeller ($30 item # 24) or should I purchase the entire water pump repair kit ($60 item number 22)? My hunch is the more expensive repair kit but I would like to hear from ya'll as to whether it is really needed
  6. I live off Sarah Creek on the York River in the Southern Bay. I was a long time THT'er but left after IB bought it. Good to see this started back up.
  7. Nice read. P.S. I love the Wagoneer in the background.
  8. I love threads like this and look forward to your progress.
  9. Thanks to those that have emailed. Is there any general advice about hiring a transporter? Reference checks, etc.?
  10. We need a 29 Hydra-Sports, on a triple axle trailer, transported from Gulf Shores, Alabama to Va Beach, VA. This setup should weigh around 12K lbs. We are looking to have it shipped as early as mid-next week. I am looking for legitimate references or advice on a shipper. I am most interested in personal references as this is our first time doing something like this. Please post a response or email me at ernesto.hemingway@gmail.com
