  1. The NC General Assembly has passed Senate Bill #43 that requires mandatory boater education for all boaters under the age of 26. The law is effective May 1, 2010. It requires boaters under 26 to present a card certifiying that they have successfully completed and passed a NASBLA approved boating safety course. The Greensboro Power Squadron is offering the courses in one day and four evening formats. Go to www.greensboropowersquadron.org for further course information.

  9. There are still openings for Saturday May 9th at Grandpa's Marine in Greensboro Call 336-282-3870 for reservations.
  10. The inspection requirements for the USCG or Power Squadron Vessel Safety Check decal are that the extinguisher gauge reads in the green. The advise given above regarding caking is very valuable as even with the gauge reading green the extinguisher will not function if it's caked. Give them a good shaking every so often as the constant vibration on the boat will tend to compact the powder.
  11. I've taken and taught a number of Power Squadron courses and am currently teaching a portion of the new one day ABC course. We have had very postitive feedback from the students on this course. The USPS courses are a lot of fun and very informatitive.

Upon successful completion of the course a certificate wil be issued that meets the requirements of states where manditory boater eduction is required.
