  1. Put him in jail and take away his license. I am always amazed when I read about someone killed by a drunk driver and then they go on to say that the individual had been arrested for DWI numerous times before. What is wrong with the legal system in this country? Why do we let these people keep on doing this time and time again until they kill an innocent bystander? Sometimes I feel like I must be a square peg trying to fit into a round hole because I just don't get it? Am I wrong?
  2. I found the following article on the Internet.....perhaps this will give you the informaiton you are looking for? I know most of you have heard about the missing fisherman out of Atlantic Beach on Thursday that has not been found. The below brings to mind several items we should all know, but I feel we need reminding from time to time. “Coast Guard officials said Michael Dodick, 67, left his summer home in Indian Beach around 5:30 a.m. Thursday for a day of fishing, departing from Anchorage Marine in Atlantic Beach. Reports indicate that he was headed to Big Rock, about 42 miles offshore, and did not return at 4 p.m. as scheduled the Coast Guard was notified.” “On Friday 28-foot Grady White fishing boat belonging to a missing fisherman was found with the engines idling near shore at Camp Lejeune around 12:50 p.m.” “Authorities said Mr. Dodick had a cell phone and a VHF radio on board his vessel, but neither would be very effective beyond a range of 20 nautical miles.” “According to officials, boats that venture offshore and move beyond the normal communication range experience static and breaks in communication from cell phones and VHF radios and recommend boaters going beyond 20 miles to consider the use of a single side band high frequency radio that can transmit up to 200 miles. These radios are capable of worldwide communication, making them practical for even small boats.”
  3. The whole insurance thing really is strange. I just switched from Progressive to Sea Tow and saved about $200 for what I think is the same coverage. I got a quote from Boat US and they were higher than Progressive....go figure.
  4. Mr. D: That was interesting reading.....thank you for posting that.
  5. Hey Venture 34 we meet again......we talked briefly on that "other site" about a month ago I was curious about your venture. At any rate......I'm in the water and just waiting for the fish to arrive....Norwalk, CT Looking forward to seeing all of you out on the water this summer.
  6. Launched last Wednesday, put the boat in it's slip, and we've had nothing but howling winds and rainy days since! I hope we get some good weather soon as I'm ready to get going!! I can hear the fish calling........
  7. I'm a builder in CT and it's the same story here......many times I've had two different building inspectors from the same department tell me to do two totally different things. It seems to me they are usually on a power trip and go out of their way to try to find something wrong so they can justify their existence (even it there is nothing wrong). I've been in the business for over 25 years and it's amazing how much I don't seem to know when it comes time for other people and inspectors to give their opinions..... I don't blame you for ranting but soon we'll be out fishing .....so think about that for a while and try to relax. Good luck!
