  1. As I recall the boat was 18 ft. Those engines were 25 HP each. That was the biggest engines Envinrude made at the time. A few years later those engines were replaced by 35 hp. That boat belonged to a friend of my father. My Dad's boat was a 16 foot "Sea Babe" powered by a pair of 18 HP Evinrudes. Like many boats then, they were plywood and home made from plans out of magazines.
  2. If you are younger than about 68 yrs, you are wasting your time here. This is for us reel old-timers. This boat was built in the 1950s and is a "molded plywood" boat. I am pretty sure it was built in Miami. Can anyone help me identify the company that built it. I want to saw it was a Hurricane but I am not at all sure about that. The pictures are from the Panama Canal Zone where I was born and raised.
  3. I talked to Stu at Pursuit (He works with Tim). I have narrowed the problem to the relays that open and close the hatch. We replaced one relay and now the problem has swapped ends, can't close hatch. I think there is faulty ground with one or more of the relays.
  4. If there are any Pursuit owners out there, maybe you can help. I have a 2004 Pursuit 3100 Offshore. I went down to the boat this evening to raise the engine hatch and when I pressed the switch on keypad, the little light lit up but nothing happened. If I push the down button on the same key pad (it is under the gunnel on the starboard side) I can hear the actuators running to pull the hatch down (even though the hatch is already down). I guess that indicates the down part is working. My question is, does anyone know of a way to bypass the key pad switch and relays to get the hatch up? Can the hatch be lifted manually? All the switched in the boat are digitally controlled. The push buttons on the key pads, when pressed, send a signal to the Power Management Equipment Module(s) which in turn close the particular relay that powers on the device your are turning on. It is a pretty neat system but leaves lacks any fail safe features.
  5. Thanks for everyones' ideas. I just came back from the boat; I unplugged and re-plugged the cable going from the display up to the radome with no success. Still get the message "not rotating". As soon as the weather cooperates I'll go down and pull the cover off the radome and check the connections at that end. This has been an intermitent problem so I think it is a problem with connection rather than a belt problem.
  6. The range only goes out to 24nm, so I think it is a 2KW. I don't think a belt is broken. It works fine sometimes. Maybe a slipping belt? Is there a way to tighten the belt? If needed, can I get a replacement belt and where would I find one?
  7. Often times my RL70 Radar shows "Warning Antenna not Rotating". Does anybody have a fix for this? Is there a belt inside the covered dome that may be loose and slipping. If so, is it something a shade-tree mechanic like me can fix? Most of the time the unit works fine. But the message above has me concerned.
