Remember, check if you have a good ground. Continuity check between the sender and the gauge, ground-side.

Rosie, So lets look at this. Your throttle setting is at "idle". You start the motor and it is "in gear". How exactly did you get injured? A little more info might be in order here.

That would be NJ bureaucracy!

There is a "limit switch" inside the control mechanism, your neutral safety switch. Yellow w/red stripe wires coming out of both sides. It's main function is to not allow you to start the engine while in gear. Most likely it is sending a signal to the motor when you shift that is mimicing a "start in gear" mode. That's where I would start.

Mike, Thank you for your input, I guess the identification of the new owners isn't necessary, as it seems it will be the same Proline. One always gets antsy with new owners of a company, you know?
