  1. ^^^^^^^ I agree. The current Trophy's contain much better construction methods than the pre-2000 models. Todays Trophy's appear to be designed by folks that actually know what a fishing rod is used for. Awesome layouts, dashes and fishing features.
  2. That is very sad to hear. Sorry for your loss...
  3. The BK filing led to a liquidation sale of all assets next month. Minimum bid is for $6M... Gold chains excluded...
  4. No surprise that the dealer told you that. That is also what Brunswick's marketing dept was trying to get out in front of the public. Actually, Brunswick purchased US Marine, which included Bayliner and their fishing boat line, Trophy, back in '87. The purchase also included Escort trailers and Force engines. Yes, the major quality/build change in the Trophy's by Bayliner occurred in 2000. They dropped the "Trophy by Bayliner" moniker on their boats, in their ads, brochures and web site shortly thereafter in an attempt to show the public that they "seperated" from Bayliner. But that was only a marketing move. Folks still went to their local Bayliner dealer to buy a Trophy, to have it repaired under warranty and to buy parts for it. There are no stand-alone Trophy dealers that I have been made aware of (and I have asked that question for years now). All of the corporate mgmt for Trophy are the same folks that push the buttons for Bayliner. Same dealer meetings for both "brands" as well. But, perception does become reality...
  5. Do dealers really think buyers are that naive??? Please... ANY dealer would be glad to give a buyer $4,000 for his trade no matter how little it is worth. If it's what the buyer wants, it's what he'll "get". It's called over-allowing (or over-advancing, depending on your locale) for the trade. All the dealer does is tack on the O-A to the price of the new boat! And the buyer ends up paying MORE for the boat, MORE in sales tax, if he finances, more in interest charges and in some states, more in personal property tax which is based off of the purchase price. But hey, I would imagine that there are still some suckers out there that will fall for anything thrown at them... Geeeeeezzzz....
  6. My parents started out boating by buying a new 1967 Kayot 20' pontoon boat. Back then, most folks didn't even know what a pontoon boat was! LOL My first boat was a 14' wooden Chris Craft that my Grandfather purchased for a six pack of beer! He dragged it home in '72, complete with two holes in it! Almost two years (and about $700 in refurbishing material later), we splashed it for the first time. We took the motor off of his pontoon and put it on my "new" Chris Craft. It was new from the keel up. We learned how to fiberglass, spray paint and even upholster the seats together. A year later I put the O/B back on the pontoon and gave the CC to my brother and bought my second boat, a 1967 Glasspar with a 65 HP Mercury O/B. A year after that, I sold the Glasspar and bought a used '72 15' Sea King tri-hull with a 55 HP Sea King (Chrysler) O/B. Today, my running total of boats owned is 19 (so far). Just a sampling of the brands owned by me include: Bayliner (4), Avon, Whaler, Sea Ray (4), Cobalt, Scout and Kawasaki (2). And YES, despite popular belief, PWC's are boats. LOL
  7. Yeah, the past week or two the deals have been a lot better. I guess the liquidators are ready to wrap things up.
  8. ^^^^^^^ Yeah, I wouldn't even consider calling her an MILF...
  9. That is a very cool pic! So how much did the dogs have to pay for that dolphin experience??? LOL
  10. Oh, so that is where those big-old Caddy's earned the term, "boat"... How does he lift the hood to check the oil??? Cool pic!
