  1. I bought my maycraft 2450 Pilot House on line. Had a bracket but no power. I told the seller to state what's wrong with the boat and take pics of all problem areas. After he sent the pics I asked for some more specific pics. We made a deal on the price & I told the seller that I would pay for the boat in full on delivery but if it was not as represented it would stay right on the truck and be on the way back home in an hour. The only things wrong with the boat were what he told me about and that I had seen pics of. I paid the trucker and we off loaded the boat. That was in 2003 & I'm still using that boat today.
  2. Wow! What a waste of "stuff". Like putting a &10,000 paint job on a dumpster. Took a good boat and ruined it by spending money on it.
  3. Doesn't sound like a good idea. Most IB boats won't rudder steer in reverse because there's no propwash going by it. To manuver in reverse just get some way with the helm hard over and then put it in forward momentarily with a blip of throttle and you'll kick the stern over, then repeat the procedure untill you're berthed. Adding to the rudder may cause it to grab in reverse and spin the helm, possible injuring you or the steering gear. I'm not familiar with the particular boat you're referring to so it's possible the rudder is undersized but unlikely.
  4. Take this for what it's worth. I never had an I/o but I've heard (from people I believe) that there is a switch that momentarily kills the ignition to lower the rpm during shifting. If this switch is out of adjustment it could be killing the ignition for too long and stalling the motor. Another possibilty is the idle is too low to already. Good luck.

  8. I don't have a problem with 15 or 20 bucks for a salt water licence if the money benefits the LIS. I do have a problem if it goes into the general fund to be pissed away by the politcos. Another concern is the fact that when I fish the sound, in a very few miles I'm in CT, RI, and NY waters. Will I be required to spend big bucks on RI and NY non-resident licences?
  9. This is all news to me. Does my 2004 Yam F115 have a factory Aux charging lead someplace?
  10. I have the same problem with my twin Yam F115 If I don't get them perfectly straight when I tilt them up they sag over to one side in a few hours. Also, the steering feels a little jerky when the motors are up. I bet I need a helm also. Thanks,
  11. I always wondered why outboards are called motors instead of engines.
  12. I have to do my F115's. Any words of wisdom as to shift linkage, ect. Thanks.
