  1. Why a flybridge?? I had a Viking Flybridge and a Open I wish I never bought the flybridge and stayed with the open. Look at Tiara--Very good boat for the price. I had a 41'
  2. Two men in Alaska are suing American Suzuki Motor Corp., alleging that the company's DF300 outboard overheats, causing safety concerns and shortening the life of the engine, according to court documents. See Related Articles Yamaha, Suzuki limit production in Japan Suzuki adds marine accessories online The lawsuit was filed in June in Superior Court in the First Judicial District at Ketchikan. Suzuki, which has not yet answered the complaint, asked that the case be moved to federal court. The suit was filed by Ronald Moyer and Kevin Beck, who are seeking class-action status for the case. They have asked to represent a class of people who purchased Suzuki DF300 outboards and were Alaska residents at the time of purchase. Moyer said that at the end of the 2008 season he learned that the fuel economy of the engine was dropping and tests discovered "substantial valve bypass," according to court documents. "Examination of several Suzuki DF300 engines operated in the waters near Ketchikan also disclosed a pattern of valves, valve guides and valve seats with dimensions falling outside of design tolerances," the suit alleges. "Examination of Suzuki DF300 engines has also found, among other problems, cylinders that are out of round." These problems are indicative of overheating, the suit says. This will lead to reduced service life of the engine and "compromised Moyer's ability to use the Suzuki DF300 engines safely while also achieving Suzuki's intended low emissions of pollution and good fuel economy." It also causes a dangerous situation on the water, according to court documents. Moyer said he is aware of at least 40 sales that fall within the proposed class definition and he believes that the class consists of more than 100 potential claimants. The suit requests that claimants receive three times the amount of actual damages or $500 a violation, whichever is greater, as well as other relief. A representative from Suzuki said the company could not respond to pending litigation.
  3. The engine has 55 hours on it. It has been at the Suzuki Mechanic for close to two weeks. I was told that there could be a problem with the ethanol in the gas. The mechanic measured the amount of ethanol and found 6%. I picked up the boat and filled it with 65 gallons of ethanol free gas--(The tank holds 80 gallons). Fished a tournament today and the best I could get out of the engine was 5 minutes of run time, before the engine would die.. I would have to shut the engine off and wait a few minutes so the ball pump could inflate with gas. The boat manufacture has replaced all of the fuel lines, installed a new fuel filter and replaced the ball pump. He also replaced the vent hose. I have been told by an auto mechanic that I may need to install an external fuel pump?? I also heard the this problem is occurring with other Suzuki engines?? Since the engine is dieing from lack of fuel--what recommendations might you have??
  4. Thanks for the response--I will check all of the above.
  5. I've got a 1999 Mercury 20-25 hp on a Tracker 16 ft. Motor surges at 3/4 to wot so bad that it will slow down . Less throttle, it runs fine. New spark plugs didn't help, have also installed inline 10 micron filter. Same results with or without filter/water separator. Any idea's would be greatly appreciated.
  6. I have to say I didn't expect some of the comments said on this post. The real reason that I said something about the Garmins is that I wanted to know if two batteries was enough to run them and the boat at the same time? I first posted this in the Electronics area, and people wanted to see the boat and placement of the Electronics. These Garmins are from another boat that I had sold that had a tower--If I was to do it again I would go with a 12" or 15" at the helm amd something smaller at the bow. I just didn't want to be out on the grass flats in Yankeetown or out some miles and not be able to start the engine. Anyways I hope all have a Happy New Year and tight lines to all!
  7. I will be using it for Bass on the Withaloochee, out to Porpise Point and Turtle Bay from Yankee Town down the St. Clair River for Walleye, In Lake St. Clair for Small Mouth and Muskie, and out on very calm days for Grouper No T top can't get under the Rainbow River Bridge--The 5208 is removable --I only would use it while flats fishing with the trolling motor

  9. Not exactly (3) 5208 head units, as we all were expecting... I would guess (2) 5208s sharing a common transducer. I would assume a 1KW shoot-thru like this Furuno: She is a beautiful boat, don't get me wrong. The Young's do very good work, and they had the resources to allow it. But we build beautiful boats also. It just seems you're putting your boat out there for all of us to "OOH" and "AHH" over... For those of us in the business, that ain't gonna get it...I've been around them to long, I got over the ooh and ahh factor long ago... If this seems harsh, then I guess I'll just have to live with it. Bob C No I didn't post this for anyone to froth over it--not that kind of person. Just put it out because I think Young Boats is a great place to deal with.
  10. I just wanted to share with all showing off my new Young Boat. This is my third one. Robb Young is the best guy to work with and he really knows his boats. I have gone Grouper fishing with him a few times and he knows his fishing as well.
