  1. If most of what you are doing is on a lake, I would thnk a good handheld VHF radio would be sufficient. As for a GPS, I bought a Garmin 441 last year and really like it. My model has the coastal maps in it, I would imagine you would want whatever lake you frequent and possibly buy the additoonal map for whatever saltwater area you frequent. If you have the extra $, go for the 551, it has a bigger screen.
  2. Thanks very much, it gives me a couple of places to try.
  3. HELP! I have a section of rub rail that was damaged and would like to replace all of it. The boat is a 2003 Polar Flats 1788. I contacted Godfrey Marine (which owns Polar) but they were not able to help me as they stopped making this boat in the mid 2000's. I have attached a photo and a diagram of what I am looking for. Since I am willing to replace all of it, it does not have to match but, it does have to mount the same way. The rub rail has a "slot" all along the backside of it that fits over a flange on the side of the hull. It screws in from below and it appears that some kind of adhesive/sealant was used as well. I am looking on the internet but thought I'd pick all the brains on CF. If you know of anything that would work, I would appreciate the info. Thanks!!
  4. Wow, good to know since you are just 2 hours away. Looks great!
  5. Have no Fear for Super Chicken is here. No faith in the Cocks? Spurrier just needs to stop playing QB games.
  6. Man those are awesome. I keep telling my son we will head out to the jetties and fish one fay. We just have not made it out there yet. I'd better not show him these pics.
  7. Hmmmm, long lines, 2 whole registers open, surly employees (if you can find one), half the customers don speek eenglish. Why wouldn't you want to shop at Wally World?
  8. A grasshopper walks into a bar and orders a beer. The bartender says, "Hey, did you know that we have a drink named after you?" The grasshopper says, "You have a drink named Bob?" My 9 year old's favorite joke.
  9. Progressive. Never had a claim so I can't say what the service is like. I have an Agreed Upon Value policy and the price seems fair enough.
  10. "Like" the button idea, don't care about the greeting. It does always make me think it is the 2nd post. Then again, I have never been accused of being thT BRIGHT.
  11. I think we should add governors to the engines so we can't go too fast and maybe file the points of all our hooks so we don't stick ourselves and no bikinis on hotties because that just distracts all us boaters and...................well, you get the idea. While I understand some government regulation/intrusion, please stop trying to save me from myself.
  12. Going fishing Friday. After that, I'll be on dry land for the rest of the holiday weekend. It is a shame that there are so many yahoos on the water that you feel like you should stay off the water during holiday weekends. Money seldom buys brains or common sense.
  13. If you are putting it on a boat you will have for a while and unless you are on a tight budget, I'd go with stainless. Just my .02 worth.
