  1. Right on! Man's got to have his priorities figured out!
  2. E Searider + 5 Don't fall for the imitators!! The difference in quality is in what you don't know enough to look for.
  3. Was playing around with the remote a few weeks ago and changed one too many variables trying to fix a fishing pattern problem. Anyways, now I can't get the boat to not oversteer using the AP. I know there are ways to adjust that but I would like to know ALL of the factory settings if anyone has them. If not, I'll call Ray on Monday Thanks
  4. Very Nice Crew! Nice Fish. Crappy Hat. Go Gators!
  5. Yeah....I don't know what had the crew more nervous, the 3-4's or me keeling over on the spot......Good to have good crew on board that could get me back in an emergency. Anyways... a fun trip. The goal was to find some blackfin. Didn't see any but those donkeys made for action. I finally had a chance to use my jigging outfit after last week's miserable luck, having lost 2 lures to problem with the eye guide. First drop, AJ. Fun....for about 30 seconds. I hate catching those things. Then ARS,.... then more ARS. A few more drops...guess what it was......... ARS.... OH well. As they say, any day on the water is a good day, or for some folks, any day above ground is a good day...
  6. Should be productive!! Let us know how you did!
  7. Yeah, I fished Friday. Was actually out today, in the bay, not offshore. Winds were coming out of the SE. Nice little chop in the bay. Jim sends me an email, the night before.....wanna go fishin' in the bay tomorrow morning??? I mean, who would go out on such short notice?? ME!
  8. Well, headed out to a few wrecks and ledges, starting in about 90' and headed deeper. Had live pins, b runners and assortment of other tasty delectables. Also had dead sardines and tinks. Weather was perfect, seas maybe 1-2's. The AJ were everywhere. You could see them in pods of 30-40 in the clear water. My crew slammed em. I was happy not to hook up with those donkeys. I was fishing for grouper and was rewarded with two keepers, one in the 10lbs range, the other 12-13 lbs. The shorty red grouper were everywhere. Interestingly enough, NO ARS. I have not been out, ever, where there were NO ARS. Other than an issue I was having with my jigging rig, had a great time.
  9. Traps produced nothing. Went out tonight and threw the net after chumming for about 15 minutes. Guess I got about 40 pins. Normally would have 100's. Don't know what's going on. Will hit one of the wrecks on the way out and sabiki some more. Weather looks ok for Friday, winds will pick up late and into Sat.
  10. OOHHH, that was low! Like the saying goes, you can lead a horse to water...... I can put you on the number but I can't make you catch em'.
  11. Hey Jimbo! Didn't we fish out of Bayport the day we trailered the boat all the way from St. Pete? You know, the day you forgot the keys to the boat back in St. Pete??? Seemed to me we got out to some decent water pretty quick. I might be mistaken. PS: Hear you are heading out Friday. Me too! Good Luck! I'm heading SW so if you are in that area, raise me on the radio. Monitoring 16.
  12. I think you just did, but the details are: the Full moon in June, which I believe, NOT SURE, is the 6th or 8th, anyway; going to do an overnighter at the grounds. We have about 10 boats so far ranging in size from the brave 21' footers to the 45' footer. This was done last year from members of another site (not sure if I can say who). Don't see why anyone who wanted to join us on the run out couldn't go. We are going to have Capt and crew member meeting early May at Hooters on 60 in Clearwater. If you have a boat and want to run with other boats come on over. If you want to fish the Grounds but don't have a boat, you may want to come over and see if you can hitch a ride with someone. PS: Here is your fish... Is that legal?
  13. Started this thread to try and encourage discussion related to fishing reports, technique, rigs, etc., unique to West Central Gulf. I'll start out by introducing myself. My name is Larry and I launch out of S. Pasadena, near St. Pete Beach. While I have, in the past, fished inshore for trout, reds and snook, I prefer the offshore hunt. I am primarily (temporarily) a grouper digger, cobia, snapper etc. I will tolerate an AJ or 2, don't enjoy that fight as much as I used to. I fish out of a 25' Pilot House with Yammi 250 and contrary to conventional wisdom I do take her out to the MGrounds routinely. Heading out Friday, weather permitting, SW to 90-120'. I will let you know if we had any action. I've had the traps out for 2 days already and interestingly enough, I have VERY few pinfish. Not sure what's going on there.??? Looks live we have to go hook em live on the way out and bring plenty of dead sardines. I hope we get a lot of discussion from other fisherman in the immediate area. Would be nice to meet more locals and see whose doing what.
