Un-configure your engine interfaces (reset values on the display), then re-configure. And make sure you have GOOD VOLTAGE on your batts at all times... Thanks for the info Osprey, I have the nmea powered by the house battery. The house battery is charged by a voltage sensing relay. Should I have it powered by one of the starting batteries? I have three 4 inch and two 2 inch gauges. I was going to disconnect the 2 inch gauges and install the new terminating resistors this weekend. When I reset the values will I have to start with naming the engines like the original install? thanks, Joe

My NMEA 2000 gauges don't recognize my 2008 df140s most of the time. If I turn a motor on and off a half dozen times usually one will come on line. recently the port motor seems to have lost the amount of fuel burned and 3 hours on the meter when it came back on. The paddle wheel stop working and I disconnect it and moved the terminating resistor, this seemed to help a little. thanks for any input.

I would not buy a combo unit, especiallly a bottom machine GPS. If you bottom fish you need to use them both at the same time. Watching for spots while you navigate, trying to hold over a spot ect. If you used the split screan you end up with less screen than the handheld. How many TVs with the built in VCR (that worked for 6 months) are still around?

I use epoxy to seal the wood around the large hole. The screw holes I use 5200. The boat in the pictures did not have any wood in the gunwales so I used some clear silicone. I would be more concerned with sealing if I lived where freezing could be an issue

Looks great. Who needs laser cutting? Has any one used or seen corian plastic used for a dash panel? It is easy to polish to a high gloss and dupont rates it fo outdoor use.

One thing You can never have to many of is rod holders. I went ahead and added another 1/2 dozen this year. I like to tape the area off and measure twice before Drilling. Make sure you have the clearance under the gunwale and move any wires or hoses that might be near where you plan to drill. I clamp a wood template over the gunwale. This makes drilling more accurate and protects the finish should the pilot bit brake or the hole saw skip out of the hole. This works especially well when drilling angled holes. Lay the rod holder next to your drill to help approximate the drilling angle. The reason the template has 3 holes is because one is 30 deg, 15 deg and 90 deg. After the holes are drilled use a counter sink bit to ease the edge of the gelcoat. This will prevent spider web cracks in the gelcoat when you tighten up the bolts. For the large hole I use a small router and a 45 deg chamfer bit to relive the gelcoat. You could just use sandpaper instead. Ready to bolt down the rod holder. Through bolts are preferred over wood screws if you can access the underneath. Lee makes some backing plates if the gunwale need reinforcing. Remember to line up the bottom of the rod holder so the cross pin in the bottom is parallel of perpendicular to the gunwale.

We could not pass up the flat seas, sunshine and low 70 degree temps on Friday. With a crew of three we headed out for deep water prospecting some stuff we found on the 3d bottom software. We ended up with about two dozen good sized fish but nothing really big. The refurbished units have the same warranty and were gone over by a trained tech who spoke english. I had a bad network box too. Would not power up anything, garmin replaced it under warranty
