  1. So, who's planning on the winter eeling dealie in the Chesapeake bay? I've got a couple days blocked off the calendar, hoping to make it happen!
  2. I just heard that a job as the White House press secretary is opening up. Or maybe Sadam's press minister. God forbid someone post something that might shed a negative light on someone! How dare Wiley take pictures of a boat with the motor dangling off it, and post them on the interwebz!
  3. Okay we're going to be in Orlando for the Thanksgiving week. Not sure I have the stomach to spend 5 straight days in the parks. Considering driving to the East coast for one of those days. Would like to lounge around and maybe surf fish. Which beach should we hit from Orlando for a quiet day of fishing and letting the kids splash around? Cocoa beach? Also, what species should I expect to fish for, and what techniques should I use for a little surf fishing in that area? Obviously some bigger pullage is always nice. My boy is 6, and anything that bites a hook pleases him, but he really wants to catch a shark.... Ps: I have some 10' surf rods and spinning gear, plus a variety of lures hooks and weights. I have surf fished before, but never in Florida.
  4. Nice long rod. Slice a hollow pool noodle lengthwise, though one half (do not cut in half!). Put the sibiki weight through the bottom eye of the rod, or use a rubber band to secure the weight to the rod handle. Wrap pool noodle around the rod and rig, if you need to use a rubber band to keep it from flying off.
  5. You going out this weekend? We'll probably be out monday on the Potomac for some family play time before the season is over.
  6. Get a pool noodle and cut i open, lengthwise. When you put your sibiki rig back on the rod, wrap the pool noodle around it. Use a rubber band or two to keep it from popping open. When you're done with the Sibiki, wrap it around a 6" long piece of noodle, and dig the hooks into the noodle.
  7. They are out there. My wife is on the title of my boat.... Well, technically, its her boat.... Hence the name
  8. Well ######, my crew isn't as hot as Capt Rick's.... Took a friend fishing last weekend. Live baiting for flounder and we had a little "bycatch" His personal best fish, period. 31" Red. Ignore the file name. I wasn't thinking when I put the pictures into photobucket.
  9. Having my second yeungling Black and Tan right now :-)
  10. Believe it or not, Virgina beach has really good year round fishing. Offshore is a bit of a run, but doable, and if you're trailerable you can tow to Oregon inlet and run out of there. Winter fishing for striper is like a religion. Spring brings flounder and drum. Summer is Cobia blues spanish and spadefish. I certainly wouldn't call it "the best", but if you need schools and all that, its a good area.
  11. Cool thanks for the scoop :-) If we decide to go that route, I'll defintely have more questions. My dad actually threw out the Morrisville thing, too. We'll defintely look in that whole area. Redistricting sounds like a major PITA. How are the private schools in the area? If we can save enough money by moving there, we'll go the private route anyways. Did I mention, I hate northern VA?
  12. Weighing some options right now, and among them would be a move to the RDU area. Would likely rent a house, not buy. Looking for information from any members that live in that area about the good/bad/ugly. Keeping the boat of course. Family with 2 little kids, so high quality schools are a must. We run a home retail business, so living in the 'burbs is going to be best for business. Right now, Cary/Apex/Morrisville is looking real good. I've visited in that area a few times and loved it. Move wouldn't be overnight, we need to save up money and sell our house here.
  13. Lowrance 27C with the appropriate nav chip. I've been working on my cobia fishing, just thought I'd see if anyone here fished for them, and how they did it.
