  1. Guys, let's get one thing straight. FISHING OFFSHORE IS STILL WIDE OPEN FROM SOUTH PASS OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER ALL THE WAY TO TEXAS. Captain Devlin with Reel Peace found huge schools of pogy and herring in West Delta today and headed to the Tuna grounds. Anyone that cancels an offshore trip out of Louisiana right now is crazy.
  2. I'm in. always liked your long sleeve shirts.
  3. They have the pre-drilled rigging hole in the nose that goes back to about mid-body where there is an open cavity for the hook to remain slightly concealed. These are being rigged for tuna.
  4. I assume that the aluminum boat that the guy is putting the trailer is a shocking boat for fish studies?
  5. We are getting critically close to the same problem here in south Louisiana. With another day and a half of extreme temps. ahead of us, all we can do is wait and see. 10,000 pounds of dead fish is a bad start, how many more days of this weather are you expecting?
  6. I have some unrigged flying fish lures. What type of hooks should I use for rigging them? Should I go with circle hooks R the standard J- hooks? Should I use a short piece of wire or cable that can be concealed inside the lure? How should I rig them if I am going to hang them from a kite?
  7. I changed the exhaust manifold and elbow after this started. It did it on my last 2 trips after the change, which was irritating to say the least. Both of my engines have a history of running on high end of the safe range for being raw water cooled, in the 180-190 range according to the gauge. This condition could come from the engine running too cold?
  8. No oil in bilge from this engine. I thought it could be sucking back through the breather hose also due to a bad PCV valve on top of the valve cover. Just didn't think it would pull in that much moisture.
  9. A battery combiner would be the easiest joining of a house battery to a starting battery on a boat like this. Even comes with an override to use the house battery for starting if needed. Only about 2 inches square with a few wires.
  10. I have twin inline 6 sterndrives in my boat. I have noticed what I think is an issue with one of the engines during the last couple trips. There is an excessive amount of water condensation that develops under the valve cover on one engine, which translates to milky white oil on top of that cylinder after the boat is back home. No water in the oil on the dipstick. Just a condition that seems to develop after the engine cools. Does anyone have a clue to what could be causing this? The other engine does not develop this condition. Thanks.
  11. I say the Saints will win the first playoff game, can't say past that but stranger things have happened. SUCH AS the weather that is predicted for this weekend.
  12. We are about to float away in South Louisiana. Almost 15" of rain for the month of December in Baton Rouge. We usually get ~3". New Orleans got over 25" of rain in December, the most rain for any month since records have been kept. It has made fishing the marsh rather difficult due to the fresh water, but we still had our good days.
  13. When the starboard engine fell off it must have killed the lower unit on the engine next to it. THat sux.
