  1. When I run my 98 150 Ocean Pro hooked up to the back of the motor where i unscrew the pee hole plug and screw in a garden hose I can rest my hand on the left side of the block and it is cool enough to leave it on there. If I put my hand on the right side it is so hot that I have to pull my hand away after the motor heats up. So I shut the motor down and pulled the thermostat covers. The right side I can see water flowing from the watersleeve out to the thermostat housing and down the water sleeve but when I open the right side no water. If i stick my finger in the left side hole for the thermostst the water will run on the right (hot) side but pull finger out and no water again. Couple of notes - Had a new water pump installed end of last year. I had milky oil due to a badly installed water pump a couple years ago where the gasket was pinched and water was running into the lower unit gearbox. I just noticed the hot side cold side issue and have not run the motor submerged to see if it occurs with the lower unit under water. Will try this weekend when I get a sec to run it to a ramp. Is there a gasket somewhere that is leaking so I am not getting full pressure? Or is it just cuz Im running on the hose?
  2. Know anyone with a climbing deer stand?
  3. So, to those who say the parent was absolutely in the wrong, do you ever let a 10, 11, 12 year old child out of your sight? Are they allowed to go in a store by themselves? Are they allowed to go down to the shoreline alone with a minnow net? Can they ride their bikes to a friends house? When and how do you teach independence and decisionmaking skills? Not that what this parent did is right, but I agree with Mensies to a degree. Why is this abandonment and walking to school not?

  5. My understanding of octane is it is the propensity of the gas to ignite earlier. This does NOT mean burn hotter, cooler, larger 'burst' but just that it takes less energy to start the ignition of the fuel. Higher octane combusts earlier given the same energy (spark) to ignite the fuel. So using higher octane will actually advance the ignition timing in engines to a small degree.....But I'm no mechanic..Can someone confirm?
  6. What do you all think is too much hp for a tiller steer outboard? There is a 16' Lund Alaskan for sale around the block with no motor. I was thinking of picking it up for the kids to use crabbin, fishin and clammin. Max recommended is 50hp on the spec plate. It has no console and nowhere to mount steering or controls. Is a 40 or 50 hp too much for tiller steer? RBF Rules!
  7. I had a perfect filet from an 8lb flounder slip away and down the drain of the filet table into the canal. I tried for an hour to fish it up with a net but to no avail....
  8. May Jersus bless this website with the success of a gynecologist oil tycoon.
