Special Note . . . and Thanks

These threads (chapters) are here to share experiences and to help us be better aware of whats out there and how to avoid pitfalls

PLEASE do not feel hesitant to make a post about a boat that you saw or found on the internet or while walking aroind your marina

It is everyone's input into this process that will make all wiser and more knowledgeable

For example, the 38 Bertram mentioned above looked great . . . if Ed aka Fubar512 and his friend were not planning on going to see it I might have flown down to Savana based upon the "gross exagerations" that were being made about that boat . . . we all learn and support each other . . . that is what this forum is about

I am hoping to learn a great deal from everyone's experience and insight and questions . . . thanks

Ring any bells?...

http://www.charlestonyachtsales.com/core/l...yachtsales&

Would not think much pounding goin' on here...

Thanks for reminding me . . . I climbed all over a 42 ft Post and was impressed with the amount of space and the general layout . . . for a boat of its size it is not too too expensive on fuel . . . then I realized that the beam is more than 15 ft wide which would only leave about 4 to 6 inchess of clearance between the boat and the pilings . . . I do not have the skills to back into a slip that is that tight a fit . . . and the slightest wave action would have the boat hitting the pilings

If I had a wider slip, I would definately be looking much closer at a 42 Post

Thanks

Updated List of Boats on my NO List

I will periodically update the list of boats that do not meet my criteria BUT which might be great for you . . . for example a boat that pounds too much for my back may be OK for you

Rampage 38 . . . pounded too much but great layout for fishing (I have a back compression injury)

Viking 43 . . . too wide for the slip, wet and burns too much fuel

Luhrs . . . just too many very negative comments about poor quality and lack of support from Luhrs

Post 42 . . . too wide for my slip

Topaz 37 and 38 . . . pounds too much

Gus,

Have you ever used or tried suspension seats?

http://www.glyde-ryde.com/products.htm

I was pretty impressed watching the captain of a 28' transporter we were on in 4' chop just glide his way through on a long ~70nm haul back from a hunting trip.

I'd say if you have back problems, no matter what type of boat you go with, you and your bride will really appreciate such seats.
